Last Day to Submit Nomination Papers for National Polls Today
Today is the last day for submitting nomination papers to contest the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election, as aspiring candidates in various constituencies throughout the country are completing the filing process. Ahead of the expiry of the deadline for collection and submission of nomination papers, candidates from different political parties, along with independent candidates, submitted their nomination papers across the country throughout Sunday. Election Commission (EC) sources said around 3,000 candidates have so far collected nomination papers nationwide. They have also been submitting nomination papers to the district Returning Officers.
According to EC sources, a total of 11 candidates have so far submitted their nomination papers at the offices of the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner and the respective Returning Officers. Of them, Ishraque Hossain from Dhaka-6 constituency, Bobby Hajjaj from Dhaka-13, Rabiul Islam from Dhaka-10, Sanzida Islam Tuli from Dhaka-14, Aminul Haque from Dhaka-16, Barrister Ahmed Bin Kashem Arman from Dhaka-14 and others submitted their forms.
Meanwhile, sources at the Election Training Institute in Agargaon said that several more candidates nominated by BNP and Jamaat are scheduled to submit their nomination papers this afternoon. As per the announced election schedule, the deadline for withdrawal of candidature is January 20. After that, the final list of candidates will be published.
