The New York chapter of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) held a rally and celebration outside the United Nations headquarters in New York to mark what party leaders described as Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s historic address at the UN General Assembly.

A large number of BNP leaders and activists participated in the programme, creating a festive atmosphere outside the UN headquarters. Participants chanted slogans and welcomed Tarique Rahman during the gathering.

The programme was led by Naim Tutul, a New York BNP leader, president of the Greater Noakhali Nationalist Forum and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Bangladesh Society.

New York BNP leaders Al Harun Chairman, Ansar Chairman, Morsalin Hossain, Badal Mirza and Kamal Uddin, among others, were present at the programme along with leaders and activists of BNP's affiliated and associate organisations.

The participating leaders said Tarique Rahman's UN General Assembly address had generated widespread enthusiasm among Bangladeshis. They said BNP leaders and activists in New York were organising various programmes surrounding his participation in the UN General Assembly.
