PM mourns death of Dubai Ruler’s brother Sheikh Ahmed

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the younger brother of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ruler of Dubai.

In a condolence message posted on his verified Facebook page today, the prime minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences on behalf of the government and people of Bangladesh over the death of Sheikh Ahmed.

He said, “Deeply saddened to learn of the passing of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. On behalf of the Government and people of Bangladesh, I convey my heartfelt condolences.”

Praying for the departed soul, Tarique Rahman said, “May Almighty Allah bless the departed soul with His infinite mercy and grant him Jannatul Firdaus, and give the bereaved family strength and patience.”

Sheikh Ahmed, a prominent member of Dubai’s ruling Al Maktoum family, passed away at the age of 76. He served as Deputy Chairman of Dubai Police and Public Security and held key roles in Dubai’s public, business and sports sectors.
