Tarique and Zaima Finish Voter Registration, EC to Rule on Inclusion Tomorrow

Election Commission Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed today said BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his daughter Zaima Rahman have completed their voter registration formalities. The EC will decide on their inclusion in the voter list at a meeting tomorrow. He said they submitted forms, provided biometric data, and applied for inclusion in Dhaka Ward-19 under Constituency-17.

Their fingerprints, signatures, and facial recognition data will be verified before issuing National Identity Card (NID) numbers, he added. The EC Senior Secretary said that although the registration process is complete, the Commission needs time to finalize the remaining procedures.

Tarique Rahman completed his registration at 1:18 p.m., while Zaima Rahman and Zubaida Rahman completed theirs earlier today. Security, including the Army, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Ansar, and police, was deployed around the EC Secretariat and the Election Training Institute during the process.
