Armed Police Battalion APBn’s operational achievements in August highlighted by the DIG at Uttara APBn’s HQ in Dhaka on Thursday afternoon.

DIG Mohammad Shahjahan presented the operational performance and achievements in the press briefing.

He said APBn units recovered 784 lost mobile phones, three hacked Facebook accounts, two hacked WhatsApp accounts, two hacked email accounts and one hacked Telegram account with the help of technology tools.

Total 572 people received assistance through the national emergency service 999, while Tk749,718 was recovered in bKash and Nagad fraud cases, he said.

In anti-drug drives, APBn members seized 6,652 yaba tablets, 3.49kg of cannabis, 43.75 litres of alcohol, 387 cartons of cigarettes and 209 vape cigarettes. Eleven cases were filed and 15 people were arrested in connection with the seizures.

In separate arms cases, two one-shooter guns, three rounds of ammunition and two spent cartridges were recovered, with one person arrested.

In anti-smuggling operations, APBn recovered 4,929 grams of gold worth an estimated Tk97,988,385. Seventeen cases were filed and 27 people were arrested in connection with the operations.

Different foreign currencies and Tk264,976 in Bangladeshi currency were also recovered, he said.

In traffic management, 483 cases were filed and Tk1,463,500 was collected in fines.

During operations in the Rohingya camps, 23 vehicles were detained for alleged illegal entry and sent to Shahpori Highway Police Station. One case was filed and one person was arrested over the recovery of ration items prohibited from being sold.

Various smuggled and illegal goods were also recovered from the camp areas, while three missing children and 19 victims were rescued during the month.

Meanwhile, APBn-8, APBn-14 and APBn-16 filed a total of 43 GR/CR cases in August, the DIG said.

Additional DIG (Operations & Intelligence) Nurul Islam, Superintendent of Police (Intelligence) Asma Begum Rita and Superintendent of Police (Training, Law & Media) Mohammad Tajul Islam were also present at the briefing along all officers of APBn HQ.
