Labour and Employment and Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury has called upon all concerned to work in coordination to ensure the successful and orderly completion of all activities related to President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s upcoming visit to Sylhet.

He made the call while addressing a special preparatory meeting held at Sylhet Circuit House today, organised by the district administration ahead of the President’s scheduled visit to Sylhet on September 15.

Speaking as the chief guest, the minister said the President’s visit to Sylhet is a significant occasion.

During the visit, the President will pay homage at the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) and Hazrat Shahparan (RA), besides exchanging views with citizens and distinguished members of society.

The minister stressed the importance of involving prominent citizens of Sylhet, university teachers, journalists, business leaders, professionals, political leaders and representatives from all sections of society in the programmes.

He said necessary instructions regarding the visit would be received from the President’s Office, and the district administration would make comprehensive preparations accordingly.

All concerned must work in a coordinated manner to ensure the smooth and disciplined completion of the entire programme, from the President’s arrival to his departure, he added.

The minister also urged all concerned to extend necessary cooperation to the local administration.
He further stressed the need to prepare a proper list of distinguished individuals, political leaders, professionals, university representatives, business leaders and social organisations, and to complete the invitation process appropriately.

The meeting was chaired by District Commissioner Abdullah Al Mamun.

Additional Divisional Commissioner Ashraful Rahman, Additional Range DIG Mohammad Anwarul Haque, Additional Police Commissioner Mohammad Enamul Haque, Sylhet City Corporation Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Rejai Rafin Sarkar, Sylhet WASA Chairman Miftah Siddiqui, District Council Administrator Abul Kaher Chowdhury Shamim, Jalalabad Gas Director Badruzzaman Selim, Sylhet Metropolitan BNP President Nasim Hossain and General Secretary Emdad Hossain Chowdhury, along with officials from various government departments and representatives of different press clubs and social organisations, attended the meeting.
