Bangladesh and Indonesia discuss strengthening trade and investment ties
Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Md Mostaqur Rahman today urged Indonesia to expand its investment in Bangladesh and called for increasing exports of Bangladeshi products to Indonesia to strengthen bilateral economic and trade relations.
The governor made the call during a courtesy meeting with Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh Listyowati at Bangladesh Bank headquarters here, said a press release. During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on strengthening bilateral economic, trade and investment relations, with emphasis on expanding bilateral trade, increasing Indonesian investment in Bangladesh and exploring new areas of mutual economic cooperation.
The governor highlighted Bangladesh's growing economy and investment potential and encouraged Indonesia to expand its investment in the country. They also discussed the prospects of increasing Bangladesh's exports of ready-made garments, electronic products and pharmaceuticals to Indonesia to make bilateral trade more balanced and diversified.
Ambassador Listyowati expressed interest in further strengthening economic and commercial relations between the two countries and highlighted opportunities for expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest. The Indonesian delegation included Minister Counsellor and Head of Chancery Wahyu Riadi, Third Secretary for Economic Affairs Robbi Firly Harkha and Officer Sapto Rudiyanto. Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor Md. Sarwar Hossain and Executive Director Md. Harun-or-Rashid were also present.
