Bangladesh delegation holds talks with Google in California

A ministerial-level delegation from Bangladesh has visited Google's headquarters in Mountain View, California.

During the visit, the delegation met senior Google officials and discussed potential collaboration on modernising the education system, artificial intelligence (AI), digital skills, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and the responsible use of technology.

The visit took place on Monday (September 28) under the initiative of the Consulate General of Bangladesh in Los Angeles, according to a message received here today.

Led by Prime Minister's Adviser on Finance and Planning Prof Dr Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, the delegation included State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj, Prime Minister's Adviser on Posts, Telecommunications, Information Technology, Science, and Technology Rehan Asif Asad, Prime Minister's Protocol Officer-2 Kamrul Islam, and Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary-1 Jahidul Islam Roni.

Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States Tareq Md Ariful Islam and Consul General of Bangladesh in Los Angeles Kazi Muhammad Javed Iqbal were also present at the meeting.

Divya Jani, Vice-President of Strategy and Operations for Google for Education, led the team representing Google.

Experts from Google also took part in the meeting.

The meeting placed special emphasis on 'Google for Education' and the potential to modernise Bangladesh's education system, enhance teacher capacity, and improve student learning outcomes through the use of technology and AI.
