Chief Whip opens taekwondo championship in Mirpur

Jatiya Sangsad Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni today opened the "Club Cup Open Taekwondo Championship 2026," at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur.

Mohammadpur Taekwondo Club and the Bangladesh Taekwondo Federation organized the event, said a press release.

Speaking at the opening ceremony he said sports are essential for maintaining a healthy body and a healthy mind as it help develop discipline, leadership and patriotism among young people.

Noting young men and women of Bangladesh are highly talented in sports, he emphasized the need to further encourage and engage young people in order to advance the country's sports sector.

Tournament committee chairman Shayrul Kabir Khan chaired the event while Anisur Rahman, MP, was present, among others.
