Dengue death toll reaches seven in Rangpur

The death toll from the mosquito-borne dengue disease in Rangpur division has risen to seven this year with the death of a 40-year-old man who was undergoing treatment with dengue symptoms at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RpMCH).

Officials of the Rangpur Divisional Health Director's office confirmed this information today.

Habibur Rahman, a resident of Fulchhari upazila in Gaibandha, died while undergoing treatment at the hospital on Tuesday, officials of the Rangpur Divisional Health Director's Office said today.

Meanwhile, 99 new dengue patients were admitted to government hospitals across the division in the last 24 hours, according to the health authorities.

A total of 2,350 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals in the division since January 1, of whom seven have died and 2,119 have recovered and returned home.

Currently, 224 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the division.
