Former Chief Election Commissioner ATM Shamsul Huda Dies

Former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) ATM Shamsul Huda has died. He was 83. He breathed his last around 9:00am on Saturday, July 5, at his Gulshan residence in Dhaka, his brother-in-law Ashfaque Quaderi told Jago News. His namaz-e-janaza will take place after his daughter returns home from the US, Quaderi said. A month ago, he fell on the floor of house and for this, he had received treatment at home, Quaderi added. ATM Shamsul Huda was appointed as the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) in 2007 during the Caretaker Government led by Fakhruddin Ahmed, and he served until 2012.
