Hill development to continue under PM’s supervision: Sa Ching Prue

Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Sa Ching Prue has said the government is firmly committed to ensuring the fundamental rights of every citizen of the hill areas and achieving sustainable improvement in their living standards.

He said major changes in education, healthcare and road communication are being implemented under the close supervision of the Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, adding that the uninterrupted pace of development in the hill areas will continue in the future.

He made the remarks after inaugurating two infrastructure projects in Bandarban to improve the living standards and communication facilities of people in the remote hill areas.

The minister inaugurated the Kraw Amtali Para Bridge and the Dolup Para RCC Road Development Project at Kuhalong Union in Bandarban Sadar yesterday afternoon by unveiling plaques, said a press release today.

The projects, built with financial assistance from the Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board, comprise a newly constructed bridge and a paved RCC road.

The Kraw Amtali Para Bridge and Dolup Para RCC Road were completed at a total cost of Tk 1.65 crore, bringing a significant positive change to the communication system in the area.

Chairman of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board Major General (Retd) Anup Kumar Chakma, Vice-Chairman Sheikh Saleh Ahmed, Executive Engineer Abu Bin Md. Yasir Arafat and Bandarban Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Marufa Sultana Khan Hiramoni, among other senior officials of the district and upazila administrations, attended the programme.

Before inaugurating the infrastructure projects, the minister attended a colourful student reception organised by the Bandarban Government High School Alumni Association at the auditorium of the Small Ethnic Groups Cultural Institute as the chief guest.
