Initiated by Rizvi Ahmed Dipto, Former Office Secretary of Darussalam Thana Chhatra Dal

Dhaka, 2 June 2025 (Monday): This afternoon, a Milad and prayer gathering was held at Darussalam Police Station to mark the 44th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, founder of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). The event was graced by the chief guest, Mustafa Jaglul Pasha Papel — a prominent BNP leader from Dhaka-14 constituency, known as a beloved grassroots figure and a steadfast symbol of the party’s electoral symbol, the sheaf of paddy. His presence energized the gathering.
The program was organized by Rizvi Ahmed Dipto, former Office Secretary of Darussalam Thana Chhatra Dal. Party leaders and activists prayed for the eternal peace of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman’s departed soul and emphasized party unity and the ongoing political movement to restore democracy and protect the people’s rights. At the end of the Milad, Tabarruk (blessed food) was distributed among attendees. During the event, Mustafa Jaglul Pasha Papel said, "The neem tree planted by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman in Madinah still stands as a silent witness to his legacy."
Special Correspondent: Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, the proclaimer of Bangladesh’s independence, remains a shining figure in the nation’s history. Beyond his contributions to the country, his deep respect and love for Islam is evident in many ways — one of which is the neem tree he personally planted in the holy city of Madinah. It is known that during an official visit to Madinah, he planted a neem tree that still stands tall today. Though much has changed over time, the tree continues to remind us of a patriotic and devout leader’s presence and ideals. Local sources say that during his stay in Madinah, Shaheed Zia exemplified Islamic and humanitarian values through his graceful and humble behavior.
BNP leaders and activists said, "Ziaur Rahman was not just a president; he was a symbol of ideals, sacrifice, and dedication. The neem tree in Madinah stands silently as a living witness to his life." His followers believe this symbol will inspire future generations to love their country and respect Islam.
