Khulna city BNP hails PM’s UNGA speech as visionary

Khulna city BNP leaders have congratulated Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on his "visionary, resolute and guideline-oriented" speech delivered at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

Prime Minister's address on the global stage had enhanced Bangladesh's position and dignity in the international arena, said the statement issued on Friday.

Tarique Rahman's commitment to establishing democracy, human rights, good governance and accountability in Bangladesh following the end of 'long-standing fascism' had drawn the attention of the international community, it added.

The leaders also praised the "Recovery, Restoration and Reconstruction" (3R) strategy announced by the Prime Minister for rebuilding the country and establishing a prosperous, self-reliant and welfare-oriented democratic state.

They said the Prime Minister highlighted Bangladesh's political and economic progress and outlined the country's positions on the Palestine crisis, Rohingya repatriation, global peace, climate change risks, economic reconstruction, empowerment of youth and women and development in education, health and technology.

They also described his concerns over the energy crisis and global inflation stemming from ongoing conflicts and his call for resolving such issues through dialogue and diplomacy, as timely.

The statement said the theme of the speech-"Bangladesh First: Bangladesh for All"-reflected the hopes and aspirations of the people of Bangladesh.

It described Tarique Rahman's address to the UN General Assembly as a rare and historic moment for the Bangalee nation, noting that he was the third member of the same family to address the General Assembly after Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
