The Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) has launched a special cleanliness drive in Rajshahi on Monday to prevent dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases.

This special cleanliness campaign has been organized on the premises of the LGED office in Rajshahi with the aim of creating mass awareness on destroying mosquito breeding grounds to prevent the spread of dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases.

As part of the campaign, emphasis was given on cleaning up accumulated garbage in the office premises and surrounding areas and identifying and keeping clean potential mosquito breeding sites.

Executive Engineer of LGED Rajshahi, Abul Kalam Azad Molla, inaugurated the program. Officials and employees of LGED along with local residents were present on the occasion.

Abul Kalam Azad Molla said that to prevent dengue, it is important to maintain regular cleanliness instead of relying only on medicine or mosquito eradication activities.
