The Council of Advisers today decided to observe 'July Shaheed Dibosh' on July 16. It also decided to observe 'July Mass Uprising Day' on August 5 and not to celebrate any special day on August 8. "The Council of Advisers on Sunday decided to celebrate July Shaheed Dibosh on July 16 and July Gono-Abbhutthan Dibosh on August 5. There will be no special celebration for August 8," Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam wrote on his verified Facebook account. Earlier, the government had declared August 8, the day of the formation of the interim government, led by Professor Muhammad Yunus, as 'New Bangladesh Day'.

The government has also had declared July 16, the day Abu Sayed was killed in police firing in Rangpur, as 'Martyr Abu Sayed Day' and August 5 as 'July Mass Uprising Day'. The previous decision of the council of advisers has been revised in today's meeting, Alam said.
