NRB Reports Record-High Revenue in Q1 of FY26


The National Revenue Board (NRB) has received record revenue during the first three months (July-September) of the fiscal year 2025-2026 (FY26). The total collection amounted to Taka 90,825 crore, marking the highest revenue collection ever achieved by the NRB in any fiscal year's first three months, said a press release today. This significant achievement represents a 20.21 percent growth rate compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year 2024-2025).  Revenue collected in the first quarter of the current fiscal year 2025-2026 was Taka 15,270 crore, higher than the collection in the first quarter of the previous fiscal year. For comparison, total revenue collections during the first three months of recent fiscal years were Taka 75,554.78 crore in the fiscal year 2024-25, Taka 76,068.43 crore in the fiscal year 2023-24 and Taka 68,635 crore in the fiscal year 2022-23.

The July-September 2025 quarter saw new revenue records set in all three major collection categories - Local Level Vat, Income Tax & Travel Tax, and Import & Export Sectors. The highest revenue was collected from the Local Level VAT sector, totaling Taka 34,819 crore in the first three months of FY 2025-2026. This sector demonstrated a substantial growth rate of 29.74 percent compared to the previous year's July-September quarter, which recorded Taka 26,838.49 crore.  Collections in this sector for previous years' first quarters were Taka 28,445.41 crore (FY 2023-2024) and Taka 24,546.65 crore (FY 2022-2023). Revenue collected through Income Tax and Travel Tax reached Taka 28,478 crore. This figure is significantly higher than collections in the corresponding first quarters of previous years- Taka 24,080.82 crore in FY 2024-2025, Taka 23,751.31 crore in FY 2023-2024, and Taka 21,016.20 crore in FY 2022-2023. 

The growth rate for Income Tax and Travel Tax collection was 18.26 percent over the same period last year. The Import and Export sector contributed Taka 27,528 crore during the July-September 2025 quarter. This collection is Taka 2,892.53 crore higher than the Taka 24,625.47 crore collected during the same period in FY 2024-2025.  The Import and Export sector recorded an 11.74 percent growth rate in revenue collection during the first three months of the 2025-2026 fiscal year compared to the preceding year.

The NBR has attributed this upward trend in revenue collection to the tireless efforts of its intelligent and hardworking personnel. The NRB remains committed to further accelerating this revenue growth through continuous efforts focused on expanding the tax net, ensuring tax compliance, preventing tax evasion, and recovering evaded revenue for deposit into the government treasury.
