Porwar alleges a section of government is aiding AL’s return

A section within the government is encouraging the Awami League to return to the country and resume political activities, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar alleged yesterday.

He described the section as “pro-fascist elements” hiding in the administration.

Porwar made the allegation while responding to questions from journalists after attending an event of Jhenaidah district Jamaat working committee at the party office.

He stressed that AL men could not have held processions across the country without signals from the government, civil administration and intelligence agencies.

Porwar also alleged that deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina has been putting Bangladesh’s security at risk by issuing statements to the media from Delhi.

“Apart from that, we do not see any internal security threat in the country,” he said.

The support she [Hasina] is receiving from the Indian government is a threat to the country’s security, he stressed.

He also accused BNP of corruption and spreading false allegations against Jamaat.
