Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) have arrested the prime accused in the case over the killing of a man by gunfire in the Motihar Police Station area of Rajshahi city. Based on information provided by him, a pistol, a magazine, and three rounds of ammunition used in the killing were recovered. RMP spokesperson Gaziur Rahman disclosed this at a press conference held at his office this afternoon.

He said that the deceased, Golam Mostofa, had a long-standing dispute and multiple ongoing cases with the accused party. On February 14 last, Mostofa left home to offer Isha prayers and was shot by miscreants when he reached the Khojapur area. Critically injured, locals rushed him to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH), where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. Following the incident, the deceased's wife, Nazera Begum, filed separate cases at Motihar Police Station under murder and arms laws.

Later, based on secret information, the investigation officer SI Almas Al Raji and his team conducted a raid at around 4:00 am on the night of May 19 and arrested Hasibul Islam, son of late Romjan Molla of the Danshmari area. "The weapon and ammunition used in the murder were recovered based on information provided by the arrested accused," he said, adding that operations are ongoing to arrest the other accused in the case.
