Robber held with knife at Motijheel metro station

A suspected robber was arrested with a sharp knife at the Motijheel Metro Rail Station in Dhaka on Monday after Ansar members intervened when he allegedly tried to snatch a woman’s bag.

The incident occurred at the station’s Entry-A gate, where the suspect, identified as Zakir Hossain, was allegedly pulling the woman’s bag and threatening her near the lift.

Ansar member Md Rakibul Islam, who was on patrol duty, noticed the incident and immediately launched an operation with APC Rokonuzzaman and Ansar member Shahin Mia. They caught Zakir red-handed at the scene.

A search of the suspect led to the recovery of a large sharp knife.

The Ansar members informed the station controller and later handed over the suspect, along with the seized weapon, to MRT Police in the presence of the station controller.

The prompt intervention by the Ansar members helped prevent a major crime at the busy metro station. Passengers and the victim expressed appreciation for their swift action.
