Social Welfare Secretary visits disability service centre in Khulna
Secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare Dr Mohammad Abu Yousuf today visited the Disability Service and Help Centre and the Special School for Children with Autism at the District Social Services Office in Khulna. During the visit this afternoon, he inspected various activities and expressed satisfaction over their implementation. The secretary said the services should be expanded to upazila level to ensure greater benefits for persons with disabilities. "Persons with disabilities are also part of our society.
They should not be viewed differently but rather as an integral part of mainstream society," he said, adding that the government has increased various facilities and support for them. He also visited different sections of the District Social Services Office, the mobile physiotherapy programme and the marginalised artisans' exhibition and marketing centre.
Director of the Divisional Social Services Office Anindita Roy, Additional Director Ratan Kumar Haldar, Deputy Director Khan Motahar Hossain, Deputy Director of the District Social Services Office Md. Hossainur Rahman and other officials and employees were present. Later, the secretary visited BN Ashar Alo School, a school for children with disabilities run by the Bangladesh Navy in Khalishpur area of Khulna.
