Thakurgaon-1 by-election nomination deadline today

The deadline for submitting nomination papers for the Thakurgaon-1 by-election ends today, with voting scheduled for October 29, according to the election schedule.

The Election Commission announced the schedule on September 10, setting October 29 as the polling date.

The nominations will be scrutinised on September 29. Candidates can appeal against the scrutiny decisions from September 30 to October 4, with the Election Commission scheduled to dispose of the appeals on October 6.

Candidates can withdraw their nominations until October 7, while electoral symbols will be allocated on October 8.

The EC declared the Thakurgaon-1 parliamentary seat vacant on August 22, following Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's swearing-in as president.

According to the EC, 515,525 registered voters will cast their ballots at 989 polling rooms in 185 polling centres in the by-election.

A total of 3,152 polling officials will oversee the voting, including 185 presiding officers, 989 assistant presiding officers and 1,978 polling officers.
