World Habitat Day observed in Narail

World Habitat Day-2026 is being observed in the district today with a call for planned and sustainable urbanization to ensure inclusive and livable cities. This year's theme is "Universal Housing, Sustainable Urbanization."

A discussion meeting marking the day was held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner at 11am, preceded by a colourful rally in the town.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Mohammad Abdul Salam attended the discussion as chief guest, while Public Works Department (PWD) Executive Engineer Md Sarwar Hussain presided.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Ahsan Mahmud Rusel, Narail Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer T.M. Rahsin Kabir and government officials were present.

Speakers stressed the need for planned urbanization to meet the needs of growing populations while protecting the environment and ensuring social equity.

They also emphasized reducing social disparities and ensuring equal access to urban facilities.
