Yasser challenges Hasina to come now instead of December

State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury today asked ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina to come back to Bangladesh now, not in December if she has enough courage.

"Not in December-if you have the courage, come now. You want to challenge us? You have left our mothers and sisters bereaved. Come, come to hang from the gallows," he said.

The state minister made the remarks while addressing a rally staged in protest against anarchy and planned acts of terrorism by the Awami League whose activities have been banned.

Addressing the rally, Yasser said any attempt to create anarchy and terrorism in the country will be dealt with iron hand.

"We have led from the streets. We have restored democracy and people's right to vote. Under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, we have returned voting rights to the people," he said.

Yasser said fascist and authoritarian forces have fled and are conspiring to undermine democracy in Bangladesh.

"We have confronted those conspiracies and broken their fascist structure. None of their conspiracies will be allowed to succeed," he said.

"BNP family remains united across the country. With the people alongside us, we will continue the country's democratic journey and development," he said.

Referring to the recent incident of setting fire to two buses, he said none will be allowed to create unrest in the country.

Earlier, a protest procession was brought out from in front of the district BNP office in the Rathkhola area of the city. The procession marched through various important roads of the city before ending at Kalibari intersection.

District BNP General Secretary and Kishoreganj-1 constituency MP Md. Mazharul Islam and Kishoreganj-2 constituency MP Md. Jalal Uddin addressed the rally.

Leaders and activists from various levels of the BNP and its affiliated and associate organizations took part in the protest procession.
