The government has distributed agricultural incentives worth Taka 2.55 crore among 35,000 small and marginal farmers in the district ahead of the current Aman season.

According to the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), farmers in all 11 upazilas of the district received the inputs free of cost under the government's incentive programme for the 2026-27 Kharif-II season.

Each selected farmer received five kilograms of Aman seed, 10 kilograms of DAP fertiliser and 10 kilograms of MOP fertiliser for cultivating one bigha of land.

The incentives were distributed among 2,100 farmers in Sadar upazila, 3,000 in Raninagar, 1,800 in Atrai, 2,600 in Badalgachhi, 5,000 in Mahadevpur, 4,100 in Patnitala, 3,800 in Dhamoirhat, 2,000 in Sapahar, 2,500 in Porsha, 3,000 in Manda and 5,100 farmers in Niamatpur upazila.

Deputy Director of DAE Md Manzur Hossain said the incentive had been provided to encourage marginal farmers to cultivate Aman paddy at lower production costs and enable them to earn better returns from their crops.
