AL leader’s body exhumed in Shahrasti

The body of Mostafa Kamal Majumder, former acting president of the Shahrasti Upazila Awami League and chairman of Suchipara Uttar Union Parishad, has been exhumed from the grave 10 months after his death on the orders of the court.
On Tuesday, Executive Magistrate Nirupam Majumder exhumed the body from the graveyard of Majumder Bari with the help of Shahrasti Police Station. Awami League leader Mostafa Kamal died after drowning on the night of August 5, 2025. The next day, on August 6, his body was recovered from a pond next to the house and buried. Six months after his death on February 4, 2025, Mostafa Kamal’s wife Fatema Kamal filed a murder case with Shahrasti Model Police Station. The plaintiff in the case, Fatema Kamal, claimed that her husband was killed by organized criminals who attacked his house.
The deceased’s brother Humayun Kabir Majumder said, “We want to know the exact cause of my brother’s death. We don’t want to harass anyone innocent in this.”
Executive Magistrate Nirupam Majumder said, “On the court’s orders, the body of Mostafa Kamal, the chairman of Suchipara Uttar Union, has been exhumed and sent to the morgue to determine the exact cause of death.”
Officer-in-Charge of the police station Md Abul Bashar said, “In view of the plaintiff’s application, the body has been exhumed and sent to the morgue under the leadership of the executive magistrate on the court’s orders.”
