BGB Launches Mobile Phone Servicing Training for Border Youths

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has launched a month-long mobile phone servicing and repairing training programme for youths in the border areas of Sapahar upazila of the district to create alternative employment opportunities and discourage them from engaging in smuggling, drug trafficking and other criminal activities.

Naogaon Battalion (16 BGB) organised the training at the Border Technical Training Centre at Aihai Union Parishad in Sapahar on August 9, said a BGB release this noon.

A total of 27 unemployed male youths from Aihai Union are participating in the training, which will continue until September 3.

The trainees will receive theoretical and practical lessons on identifying, repairing and maintaining hardware and software-related faults in mobile phones, as well as modern mobile servicing technologies, mentioned the release of this paramilitary force.

Two skilled local trainers selected by the Department of Youth Development are conducting the training.

Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Ariful Islam Masum, commander of Naogaon Battalion (16 BGB), formally inaugurated the programme as the chief guest.

Local administration officials, elected representatives, youth development officials and journalists attended the inaugural ceremony.

The BGB commander said such initiatives would help transform youths in border areas into skilled, self-reliant and productive human resources while creating sustainable self-employment opportunities.
