Bodies of Two Tourists Recovered from Bandarban Hill Basin

The bodies of two tourists were recovered from a hill basin near the Boga Lake View Point area in Ruma upazila here.

The deceased were identified as Md Jamir Uddin, 32, a resident of Bara Manika area under Borhanuddin upazila in Bhola, and Rokaiya Akter, 30, a resident of Lalbagh in Dhaka.

According to reports, a group of 10 tourists traveled from Dhaka to Ruma on Wednesday night riding six motorcycles. They stayed at a cottage in the Boga Lake area.

On Thursday afternoon, the group went to visit the Boga Lake View Point. After taking photographs, eight of them returned, while Jamir and Rokaiya rode their motorcycle past the view point and continued ahead.

Their guide, Md Ismail, informed the Boga Lake Army Camp about the matter around 6 pm. Later, a joint search operation was launched by the army, police, and locals.

The bodies of the two tourists were recovered from a hill basin near the view point at around 11 pm.

Ruma Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Manas Barua confirmed the recovery of the bodies and said necessary legal procedures are underway.
