In an effort to mitigate traffic congestion in Chattogram city, Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) has directed that private hospitals to establish their own parking facilities.

“Insufficient parking spaces for vehicles at the city’s private hospitals often create congestion in roads adjacent to these health facilities,” said CDA Chairman Engineer Belayet Hossain after visiting several private hospitals in the city this afternoon.

Many hospitals are currently operating in breach of the CDA's building construction regulations, a situation that will not be tolerated any more, he said, urging all private hospitals to ensure adequate permanent parking facilities as soon as possible and warned that failure to comply with the directives will result in stringent legal repercussions.

Earlier on the day, a high-level team from the CDA inspected various hospitals, including the Metropolitan Hospital, Royal Hospital, Medical Center, and CSCR Hospital, from morning until noon.

CDA Chairman Engineer Belayet Hossain emphasized that all service organizations, including the CDA, City Corporation, WASA, and CMP, have reached a consensus that the traffic congestion in the city must be resolved without exception. There will be no leniency granted to anyone concerning the efforts to alleviate the hardships faced by the city’s dwellers.
