Cyclist Sabur withdraws from road race due to illness

Bangladesh cyclist Sabur Hossain could not compete in the men's road race at the Asian Games on Wednesday due to illness.

Sabur had been suffering from fever for the past two days and consulted a local doctor, who conducted medical tests and prescribed medication.

However, he failed to regain sufficient fitness to compete in the road race and was forced to withdraw from the event.

Another Bangladesh cyclist, Shahadat Hossain, took part in the race but could not complete it, pulling out after the first lap.

Bangladesh Cycling Federation general secretary Parvez Hasan said Sabur had tried to regain his fitness despite suffering from physical problems caused by fever, but ultimately failed to recover sufficiently to compete.

"He tried to regain his fitness despite his illness, but eventually he could not become fit enough to compete. So he had to withdraw from the event," said Parvez.
