Dacoit Ringleader Arrested in Police Murder Case

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested ringleader of a robber gang Nur Islam, the main accused in a murder case of police constable Rafiqul Islam, said a press release of RAB-12 this afternoon.
Earlier, he was arrested from Deobhog Banglabazar area of Narayanganj district in the evening of May 26.
The arrested Md. Nur Islam, 31, is a resident of Dhapsukhangari village under Dupchanchia upazila in Bogura district.
RAB said, on the late night of April 24, a group of robbers robbed a cattle trader's pickup van and six cows in Basakhanpur area of Tangail district.
During the time, several patrol teams of Jamuna Bridge West Police Station in Sirajganj tried to stop them as they were heading towards North Bengal after the robbery, the sources added.
At that time, the robbers drove their vehicle at high speed and hit a police constable who later died on April 27 while undergoing treatment at Ibne Sina Hospital in Dhaka.
On the evening of May 26, a joint team of RAB-12 and RAB-11 arrested the robber gang leader Md. Nur Islam from the Deobhog Banglabazar area of Narayanganj based on secret information.
The arrested has been handed over to Jamuna Bridge West Police Station in Sirajganj for further legal action, the RAB added.
