DIG Abdul Quddus Chowdhury inaugurates new barrack at Himchari police outpost

A newly constructed barrack building at the Himchari Police Outpost, one of the key security points in Cox’s Bazar’s popular tourist zone, was inaugurated on Wednesday (September 2, 2026). Chattogram Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Abdul Quddus Chowdhury, PPM, formally inaugurated the newly built barrack building at a ceremony held at the police outpost. Cox’s Bazar Superintendent of Police A.N.M. Sajedur Rahman, along with senior officials of the district police, attended the inauguration. Following the ceremony, police officials inspected the newly constructed facility.

Officials concerned said the modern barrack building would significantly improve accommodation facilities and the working environment for police personnel stationed at the outpost. Himchari is one of the busiest and most popular tourist destinations in Cox’s Bazar. A large number of tourists from across Bangladesh and abroad visit the area every day. Members of the Himchari Police Outpost play an important role in ensuring tourist safety, maintaining law and order, and responding quickly to any untoward incidents.

With the new barrack facility, accommodation and day-to-day amenities for police personnel serving in the area are expected to improve considerably. Officials hope the improved facilities will enhance the efficiency and operational capacity of police personnel while strengthening security arrangements for tourists and local residents. The newly constructed barrack building is part of ongoing efforts to improve police infrastructure. Officials believe the facility will contribute to making the activities of the Himchari Police Outpost more efficient, organized and effective.
