EU Calls for Peace Opportunity as PKK Announces Disbandment

The EU Monday called on "all parties to seize the moment" to work towards peace after the Kurdish militant group PKK announced it was ending its decades-long armed struggle against the Turkish state.

"The European Union considers that launching a credible peace process, aiming for a political solution to the Kurdish issue, would be a positive step to achieve a peaceful and sustainable solution," EU foreign affairs spokesman Anouar El Anouni told reporters.
