Firefighting, Rescue and First Aid Training Held in Sundarbans East Forest Division
A day-long firefighting, rescue and first aid training and exercise was held today in the Sundarbans East Forest Division under the Bagerhat District aiming to strengthen rapid and effective response to fire incidents and other emergencies. The training was organised at the office premises of the Bagerhat Forest Division at 11 am, where seven members from the Bagerhat Fire Station and around 60 trainees from different relevant agencies took part.
The exercise was conducted under the supervision of Station Officer Sheikh Mamunur Rashid. Participants received hands-on training on modern firefighting techniques, rescue operations, use of fire extinguishers, and basic first aid procedures. Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Mamunur Rashid said awareness and basic skills are essential in responding to disasters such as fire incidents. He added that regular training and practical exercises enhance the capacity of individuals and organisations, helping to protect lives and property.
During the programme, the emergency hotline number 102 of the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence was widely publicised, with an appeal to contact the number immediately in case of emergency. At the end of the training, participants expressed their determination to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in real-life emergency situations.
