ICRC Head of Delegation Holds Talks with Red Crescent Rajshahi City Unit

Nicolas Fleury, Head of Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), held a courtesy meeting and exchange of views with Mahafuzur Rahman Riton, Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) and Chairman of the Red Crescent Rajshahi City Unit.

The meeting and exchange of views was held this afternoon in the office room of the Administrator at Nagar Bhaban. 

At that time, the RCC Administrator presented a souvenir gift to the ICRC Head of Delegation Nicolas Fleury.

Earlier, a courtesy meeting and exchange of views was held between Nicolas Fleury and the Executive Committee of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Rajshahi City Unit, at the office of the Red Crescent Society Rajshahi City Unit in Nagar Bhaban.

Mahafuzur Rahman Riton, Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation and Chairman of the Red Crescent Rajshahi City Unit chaired the event.

Others present at the meeting were Vice Chairman of Red Crescent Rajshahi City Unit Rezaul Karim Raju, Secretary Dr. Muhammad Shamim Hossain Chowdhury, Executive Committee members Professor Dr. Parvez Azaharul Haque and Sheikh Md. Mamun, and volunteers of the city unit.

During the exchange of views, Nicolas Fleury praised the natural beauty and clean environment of Rajshahi. 

He also discussed the ICRC's humanitarian activities regarding the security, healthcare, and communication with families of foreign nationals detained in Rajshahi Jail.

In addition, Nicolas Fleury highly praised the responsible role played by the volunteers of the Rajshahi City Unit through ambulance services and other humanitarian activities during the student-people's movement in the July mass uprising. 

He mentioned the active participation of volunteers in humanitarian service during the crisis as an important reflection of the humanitarian values of the Red Crescent.
