Illegal structures to be evicted for Bandarban Town’s beauty: DC

“Bandarban is a paradise of natural beauty. The fame of this district with immense tourism potential has spread both at home and abroad. Locals, including tourism-related businessmen, need to be more careful and aware for the development of this industry,” said Deputy Commissioner Shamim Ara Rini at a meeting held with various tourism-related local businessmen at the District Administration Conference Room on Monday morning.
In her speech as the president, the Deputy Commissioner also said, “The entire district should be made tourism-friendly. To protect the beauty of the tourist town, garages of various vehicles including rickshaws-motorcycles, CNG, and dilapidated business establishments should be removed from the main roads of the town and kept out of sight of tourists. The sidewalks, streets, and alleys of the town should be kept free of encroachments so that tourists can move around freely.”
She also said, “Tourism means hospitality. With the mentality of service, tourists will be impressed with good behavior and hospitality. Ahead of Eid, tourists will flock to the district. Immediate action will be taken if any complaints of tourist harassment and excessive collection are received during this time.”
Among others, Bandarban Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Abu Taleb, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mamata Afrin, District Administration NDC Asif Raihan, District Hotel-Resort Owners’ Association General Secretary Jasim Uddin, Tourist Jeep Owners’ Association President Nasirul Alam, Businessmen Oikya Parishad General Secretary Mohammad Alam, Restaurant Owners Association President Giasuddin Master, and Market Businessmen Association President Abdul Aziz spoke at the meeting. Various businessmen related to tourism in the district were present at the meeting.
