Jatiyatabadi Peshajibi Dal Launches Tree Plantation Programme in Rajshahi
A 'Tree Plantation Program-2026' was inaugurated at the initiative of the Rajshahi City and District branches of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Peshajibi Dal at Hargram Notunpara Graveyard in Rajshahi City. The programme has been launched as part of implementing the five-year, 25- crore tree plantation program announced by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to conserve the environment, increase greening, and combat the adverse effects of climate change.
Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) attended the event as the chief guest while General Secretary of Rajshahi City BNP Mahfuzur Rahman Riton accompanied him. The programme was inaugurated by Ariful Islam Zia, founding president of the Central Committee of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Peshajibi Dal. In his speech, RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton said that to implement the current government's electoral commitment led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the "25 crore trees in five years" programme, RCC has taken up a programme to plant two lakh fifty thousand trees in the next one year.
Among them, the plantation of about one lakh saplings has started in the first phase. He thanked the professional organisation in Rajshahi for successfully implementing the Prime Minister's tree plantation programme. To take forward all development works including strengthening the cleanliness activities of the city, mosquito control, removal of mud, tree plantation and greening, cooperation of all including the city dwellers is needed, he said, adding, "Only then Rajshahi will grow into a more beautiful, green and healthy city."
Special guests present at the event were General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Peshajibi Dal Engineer Mohammad Shahidul Islam Russel, Vice-Presidents Mohammad Arfin, S Mizanur Rahman Ohid, Professor Dr. Muhammad Nesar Uddin Talukder and S A Musa, along with leaders of BNP and its affiliated and associate organizations, leaders of the Mosque Committee, leaders of the Graveyard Committee and dignitaries of the area.
