Man Sentenced to Death for Killing Wife in Narayanganj
A court here today sentenced a man to death for killing his wife in Fatulla under Sadar upazila of the district in 2022. The court also fined the convict Moktar Ali, 47, son of late Mokshed Ali of Gognagar Baritek area of Sadar upazila, Taka 20,000.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Nibhana Khair Jesy announced the verdict in the presence of the accused this afternoon. According to the prosecution, on the night of November 20, 2022, Moktar Ali and his wife Fatema Akhter Rekha had an argument over suspicion of extramarital affairs. At one stage, Moktar Ali got angry and stabbed his wife to death.
Later, the victim's mother, Sajeda Begum, filed a murder case with Fatullah Model Police Station. Police arrested Moktar Ali. After the arrest, he confessed to his crime in the court under Section 164 and gave a statement.
Court Police Inspector Abdus Samad confirmed the verdict and said that the court gave this judgement after a long legal process and taking the testimony of a total of 13 witnesses in the case.
