Ninth-grader killed in road accident in Thakurgaon

A ninth grade student was killed in a road accident in Ranishankail upazila of the district on Saturday morning. The deceased was identified as Shiva Rani, 15, daughter of Gobilal Roy, a resident of Lehemba Union in Ranishankail upazila of the district.

Police and local sources said the accident occurred in the Kuwaiti Mosque area of Ranishankail municipality when a tractor approaching from behind struck her bicycle. She fell onto the road and sustained severe injuries, dying on the spot.

She was returning home on a bicycle from coaching classes. Officer-in-Charge (OC) Amanullah Al Bari of Ranishankail Police Station confirmed the incident, saying the driver and vehicle are in custody and legal action is underway.
