Palash murder case accused arrested in Tangail after Rangpur killing

The Special Response Battalion (SRB)-13 arrested an accused in the sensational Palash murder case of Rangpur from the Gorai Mukta Plaza area under Mirzapur police station of Tangail district on Wednesday afternoon.

The arrestee is Md Sabbir, son of M Mojahar Ali of Araji Bircharan village under Haragachh police station of Rangpur, an SRB-13 press release said here this afternoon.

The release said that Mojahar Ali of the same area, along with his sons, attacked Palash using iron rods, stainless steel pipes and other locally made weapons in the nearby Sahebganj Bazar following a land dispute on August 10, 2026 evening.

Subsequently, relatives and local residents rescued the critically injured Palash and admitted him to Rangpur Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed while undergoing treatment on August 19, 2026.

Following the incident, the brother of the deceased filed a murder case at Haragachh police station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police on the same day.

On a tip-off, a joint team comprising the SRB-1 from Rangpur and the SRB-14 from Tangail conducted a raid in the Gorai Mukta Plaza area of Tangail and arrested the accused in the Palash murder case, Md Sabbir, at 3:50 pm on Wednesday.

The arrested individual has been handed over to the Haragachh police station for further legal action.
