Police arrested 1,154 people over the past 24 hours across the 11 districts under the Chattogram Range Police.

The operations targeted juvenile gangs, mugging, extortion, terrorist activities, and drug-related crimes.

The Range Police office disclosed the figures in a report today.

According to the report, the arrested included 94 people in regular cases, 70 in prior cases, 50 under Section 34 of the Police Act, three under Section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and 32 under Section 151 of the CrPC and other laws.

Another 176 were arrested on various warrants and 17 on conviction warrants.

In drug-related operations, 95 people were arrested in drug cases, of whom one was a carrier and 94 were users. In addition, 57 were arrested as drug dealers in regular and other cases.

Mobile courts sentenced 38 people to imprisonment, collected fines totaling Taka 12,700, and 41 drug cases were filed. Police seized 7,644 Yaba tablets, 38.140 kilograms of cannabis, 198 liters of locally-made brewed liquor, 49 bottles of foreign liquor, two cans of beer, and 100 bottles of Scuf syrup.

The report also said 13 members of a banned organisation were arrested-- four in Chattogram, two each in Cox's Bazar, Cumilla, Noakhali,and Khagrachhari, and one in Chandpur districts.

During operations against juvenile gangs, 617 people were detained. Of them, 457 were released to their guardians' custody after signing a bond, while legal action was taken against 160.

Cumilla recorded the highest number of detentions at 253, followed by Lakshmipur with 128 and Chattogram with 81. The remaining detentions were 41 in Brahmanbaria, 34 in Noakhali, 30 in Rangamati, 18 in Cox's Bazar, 17 in Khagrachhari, 10 in Chandpur, and five in Feni districts.

Police said the special drive, conducted in the public interest, will continue.
