RpMP recovers 2,450 liters of liquor-making raw material

The Kotwali Police Station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) recovered 2,450 liters of "wash" (raw material for producing fermented liquor) buried underground from the city's Santal Para area on Saturday night.

Under the overall guidance of RpMP Commissioner Md Mahbubur Rashid, the Kotwali Police Station during a special operation recovered the raw material used to produce fermented liquor, an RpMP Media Cell press release said this afternoon.

Acting on a tip-off, a raiding team from Kotwali police station conducted an operation at the site and recovered 28 plastic drums buried underground at various locations at 7:10 pm. The drums contained a total of 2,450 liters of "wash" (raw material for making liquor).

Subsequently, in the presence of officials, local residents, witnesses, and journalists, a two-liter sample of the seized "wash" was collected for further legal proceedings, and the remaining 2,448 liters were destroyed on the spot. 

"Investigations are ongoing to identify those involved in the crime. The RpMP will continue its operations and activities aimed at building a drug-free society and preventing crime," the release added.
