Siblings get life-term jail for murder in Jhenaidah

A court here sentenced two brothers to life-term imprisonment and fined each Tk 20,000, in default to serve another year in prison for murdering lawyer Anwar Hossain Kadar.

The convicts are Aminur Islam Kadu and Akhtaruzzaman Madhu. Both of them are the younger brothers of the deceased lawyer Anwar Hossain Kadar. Jhenaidah District and Sessions Judge’s Court Judge Emran Hossain Chowdhury declared the verdict on Monday afternoon.

According to the verdict and the case, on May 14, 2011, Advocate Anwar Hossain Kadar was brutally murdered in broad daylight in Parkpara of Jhenaidah Town due to a land dispute. Later, the deceased’s wife, Majeda Yasmin, filed a murder case against 8 people in the court as the plaintiff. After the case, two accused, Aminur Islam Kadu and Akhtaruzzaman Madhu, gave confessional statements under Section 164 in the court. After the evidence, the court gave the above sentence as the charges against them were proven. The court acquitted the other 6 accused as the charges against them were not proven.
