Stocks Continue Downward Trend

Stocks today extended its losing streak as the risk-averse investors preferred to book profit on quick-gaining shares. DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) declined by 33.6 points or 0.6% to settle at 5,298 points as against 5,332 points in the previous trading session. On the sectoral front, Bank (29.6%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Textile (9.7%) and General Insurance (9.5%) sectors.
Sectors mostly displayed negative returns, out of which Life Insurance (-2.5%), Paper (-1.5%) and Telecommunication (-1.5%) showed the most corrections on the bourse today. Out of the 397 issues traded, 81 advanced, 248 declined and 68 remained unchanged. The port city bourse, CSE, also witnessed a profit-booking session today. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) declined by 34.1 and 65.5 points, respectively.
