Two Arrested with 300,000 Yaba Tablets in Cumilla

District Detective Branch (DB) of Police today seized around 300,000 pieces of yaba tablets from a luxury Toyota Prado during an operation in Jagurjhuli area of Sadar upazila along the Dhaka- Chattogram Highway. Two people have been detained in connection with the seizure. The detainees were identified as Faisal Hossain, 25, of Chakaria upazila in Cox's Bazar and Aman Ullah, 35, the driver of the vehicle. The seized yaba is estimated to be worth around Taka 15 crore in the local market.

Police said it was the largest yaba consignment seized in Cumilla, so far, Shamsul Alam Shah, officer-in-charge (OC) of Cumilla District DB Police, confirmed the matter. He said a DB team took position at noon in Jagurjhuli area following a tip- off. The team stopped a white Prado travelling from Chattogram towards Dhaka and conducted a search. The yaba tablets were subsequently recovered from a suitcase inside the vehicle. The tablets were wrapped in scotch tape, police said.

Cumilla Superintendent of Police Md Anisuzzaman said the two detainees were being interrogated. "After questioning them, we will be able to determine where the consignment came from and where it was being taken for distribution," he said.
