Two Arrested with 560,000 Yaba Tablets in Teknaf; Syndicate Kingpins Still at Large
Two alleged drug traffickers, both Myanmar nationals, were arrested with 560,000 Yaba tablets during a pre-dawn raid conducted by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-15) in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar. According to RAB, the operation was carried out at around 4:20 a.m. on August 2 in the Dhanchhara canal area, south of a fish enclosure owned by Fazal Karim in Nazirpara under Teknaf Sadar Union.
The arrested suspects were identified as Karim Ali (32), son of Abdul Ali of Suliapara village under Fortu Police Station in Myanmar's Pindisong District, and Hasan Araf (44), son of Chhaiyed Hossain of Daliyapara village in Maungdaw District, Myanmar. RAB members recovered 560,000 Yaba tablets from their possession during the raid.
The detainees have been handed over to Teknaf Police Station after a case was filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act. Lieutenant Colonel Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Commanding Officer of RAB-15, Cox's Bazar, confirmed the operation and the arrests. Authorities believe the arrested individuals are part of a larger cross-border drug trafficking network, while the alleged masterminds behind the syndicate remain at large.
