Two alleged drug peddlers were arrested with narcotics and a large quantity of banned Indian medicines and cosmetic products in separate raids conducted by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-6 in Satkhira district.

The arrested persons were identified as Md. Ismail Hossain, 28, of Munshiganj Purba Kalinagar, and Md. Suman Hossain, 29, of Abad Chandipur under Shyamnagar upazila of the district.

According to a press release issued by RAB-6 on Thursday night, a special team of CPC-1 (Satkhira Camp) conducted a raid in the Chunar area under Kaliganj Police Station at around 11am on July 23, acting on confidential information.

During the operation, the team recovered 230 bottles of Phensedyl-type cough syrup (Wincarex), 15,000 Tapentadol tablets and a large quantity of banned Indian medicines and cosmetic products.

RAB officials said the seized items were listed and documented in the presence of witnesses before being taken into custody.

Later, the arrested persons were handed over to Kaliganj Police Station along with the recovered goods after filing a case against them under the Narcotics Control Act, Additional Superintendent of Police Zain Uddin Muhammad Ziyad, commander of RAB-6 CPC-1 (Satkhira Camp) said.
