Two Killed in Separate Electrocution Incidents
Two people, including a housewife, died in separate electrocution incidents in Jhenaidah and Naogaon districts.
In Shailkupa of Jhenaidah, Afroza Khatun (26), wife of Shamim Hossain of Sripur village, died after being electrocuted while cooking rice in an electric rice cooker.
The accident occurred around 7 pm last night.
Family members said Afroza noticed a burning smell and opened the cooker lid, at that point she was electrocuted. Relatives rushed her to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared her death at 8 pm.
Emergency physician Dr. Soya Israil confirmed that she passed away before reaching the hospital. The body was kept in the hospital morgue. In Badalgachhi of Naogaon district, Shree Biman (38), son of Shree Babu of Nayagaon village, died this morning while working at a fish pond in Sherpur Gachkuri area.
Police and locals said Biman was draining out water from the pond using an electric pump to catch fishes. He was electrocuted when he accidentally touched a live wire around 11:30 am.
Locals rescued him in a critical condition and took him to Badalgachhi Upazila Health Complex, where doctors announced him dead.
Officer-in-Charge Md. Ruhul Amin confirmed that police visited the site and said legal procedures are underway.
