3 held over youth’s murder in Bijoynagar

The identity of an unidentified youth who was found with his throat slit beside the Simna-Brahmanbaria road in Bijoynagar Upazila of the district on Friday, has been revealed. Bijoynagar police have arrested three people on charges of involvement in the murder.
The arrested are Touhidul Islam Bhuiyan, 31, Samir Khan, 25, and Siam Bhuiyan, 16. They are all residents of Dagrisa Village in Araisidha Union of Ashuganj Upazila of Brahmanbaria. On the other hand, the deceased Mojibur Rahman, 35, was the son of late Billal Hossain of Ghushta Kaurapara Village in Mymensingh District. He was a CNG driver by profession. He and his family lived in a rented house of Alauddin Sarkar in Char Chartala Village of Ashuganj Upazila.
The Brahmanbaria District Police Media Cell said in a press release on Saturday night that three people were arrested in a raid in the Ashuganj Police Station area. Based on the information provided by them, the blood-stained Swiss gear (knife) used in the murder, blood-stained clothes, the victim’s mobile phone and the looted CNG were recovered from the Kodda area.
The deceased’s wife filed a case with Bijoynagar Police Station on Saturday as the plaintiff. After that, when the three arrested accused were presented in court, one of the accused gave a confessional statement.
The initial suspicion of the police is that the murder was committed with the aim of stealing CNG. In this connection, Bijoynagar Police Station OC Shahidul Islam said that the raid is continuing to arrest the other accused involved in the incident.
