AL Leader and Former MP Habib's Brother Nadim Arrested
Nadim Mahmud, brother of Alhaj Mohammad Habib Hasan, a former Member of Parliament from Dhaka-18 and Joint General Secretary of the Dhaka North Awami League, has been arrested by Uttara West Police in connection with multiple murder cases.
According to Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hafizur Rahman of Uttara West Police Station, Mahmud was apprehended during a late-night operation around 12:30 AM on Wednesday in the Bashundhara area of the capital. The raid was carried out under the leadership of Assistant Police Commissioner Saddam Hossain of the Uttara Zone.
Police sources state that Mahmud is accused in several cases involving the fatal shooting of participants in an anti-discrimination student movement. Authorities say the charges relate to serious allegations, including politically motivated violence and targeted killings.
OC Hafizur Rahman, who has gained a reputation locally for taking action against influential figures within the ruling party, confirmed the arrest and stated that further investigations are ongoing.
